WHAT MAKES ME A PROGRESSIVE PRINCIPAL
In the rat race for marks, teachers, parents and students have forgotten the joy of learning. In schools that I work with, I work towards restoring the joy of learning in young minds, so that teaching and learning becomes an enjoyable process
MY MISSION AS A PROGRESSIVE PRINCIPAL
Being a Progressive Principal of India, I shall impress upon that learning needs to be made a joyous process. With the endorsement of such a learned community, I am sure that teachers would be more than willing to understand and accept the pedagogy I advocate.
LEARNING BY DOING
As stated earlier, when you make learning fun, it becomes imperative to use these strategies.
INTEGRATED CURRICULUM
Thematic content is difficult to create but when it works, it shows how much learning can happen in the classroom. We tried this with Grade 4 to 8 students and it helped foster a better learning environment.
INTEGRATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP INTO EDUCATION THROUGH FACULTY
Introducing a programme like FLiP which teaches Financial Literacy, helps to build entrepreneurship skills.
PROBLEM SOLVING & CRITICAL THINKING AMIDST THE FACULTY
This has been done through Workshops
GROUP WORK AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS AMIDST THE FACULTY
Various functions are delegated to teams of teachers and these events foster social skills.
UNDERSTANDING & ACTION BASED LEARNING
It is important that the students enjoy learning. When that happens, rote learning can not exist.
EDUCATION ACCENTUATING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SAFEGUARDING DEMOCRACY
Education is not an indicator of courage, however, it does give you the ammunition needed to stand up and fight. Democracy can be safeguarded by making a positive contribution to society through questioning and reasoning. Education can help with that but the courage to do so cannot be acquired, it may be honed but not created by Education alone.
INTEGRATION OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AND SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS INTO THE DAILY CURRICULUM
We work with several Service oriented organisations that help us in this task.
FUTURISTIC SELECTION OF SUBJECT CONTENT
Selection of Academic Content is not the only way that this is achieved, but by building a curriculum focused on the wants of the future. This happens when we cater to the whys of the students more often than adhering to texts provided.
LIFELONG LEARNING AND SOCIAL SKILLS OF FACULTY MEMBERS
I have always believed that empowering Educators empowers the World. My focus is on providing quality workshops for teachers that they may be lifelong learners and foster the same feeling in their students
