WHAT MAKES ME A PROGRESSIVE PRINCIPAL

I communicate clearly the school’s vision and mission to students, parents and staff members. I foster standards of teaching and learning that are high and attainable. I provide clear goals and put in place sound approaches that enable teachers and students to monitor learning progress and the steps required to meet learning goals. I spend time in the classroom interacting with students and observing teachers. I foster and promote a culture of trust and sharing.  I lay strong emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. I believe in education for social responsibility and democracy.

MY MISSION AS A PROGRESSIVE PRINCIPAL

“To provide a safe and stimulating environment for bright and curious children to interact with and learn from each other. To entertain children with educational offerings that provide fun learning opportunities. To provide a creative and rewarding work environment for our employees.” 

It is my Mission to live a life of Honesty & Integrity.     

LEARNING BY DOING

We conduct neighborhood programs where the students of my school go to the neighborhood school and teach them English Phonetics, Art & Craft, Music etc. This is widely appreciated. The students along with the Art Teacher have painted walls of the classrooms in an innovative way. We conduct vocabulary parade to enhance vocabulary in students. 

INTEGRATED CURRICULUM 

Last academic year we had revision conducted for 10 days in which the Drawing Teacher revised the English and Science subjects inventively depicted through drawings. The Sports Teacher rearranged the classes made groups and motivated them through Quiz and revised the portions through games.  The Dance Teacher revised the portions through expressions. The Music Teacher took the keyboard made tunes for the answers to make the students memorize easily.

INTEGRATION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP INTO EDUCATION THROUGH FACULTY

My Art Faculty is very good in painting and making murals. He is teaching the teachers, housekeeping staff and students to paint and make murals. The students and faculty are able to do well. The teachers are able to draw well, make the class look good through projects. Students are able to vent out their feelings through paintings. Their concentration has tremendously improved.

PROBLEM SOLVING & CRITICAL THINKING AMIDST THE FACULTY 

I do it through Quality Circle Time. I take teachers in groups and they speak out and the others in the group give solution through their own experiences and thinking skills.

GROUP WORK AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS AMIDST THE FACULTY

Group work is done through Peer Teaching and Learning. Our teachers go to street schools and they educate the students there during evening hours as part of their responsibility in educating the society. The teachers belong to four houses and they take care of the activities of the school. They monitor the discipline and decorum of the school, personal hygiene etc.

UNDERSTANDING & ACTION BASED LEARNING

Students are taught tables and theorems in mathematics through music. They sing and dance and learn. In other subjects they learn by hands on and they think and write on their own. We have Smart Class in every class room hence it is action based teaching using ICT.

COLLABORATIVE & COOPERATIVE LEARNING PROJECTS FOR FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

There is Peer Teaching in the school. The faculty observe the teaching and make improvements. There are Demo Lectures wherein the Principal teaches and the other faculty members observe to enhance their skills. There are Guest lectures for the faculty members by experts.

EDUCATION ACCENTUATING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SAFEGUARDING DEMOCRACY 

A student of my school had a difference of opinion with a teacher and she boldly came to me and explained what happened. The teacher was also called and the student explained her displeasure. I counselled both of them. The teacher understood her mistake and both the student and the teacher developed a good rapport. 

DESIGN & DELIVERY OF A LEARNING ECOSYSTEM WHEREBY HIGHLY PERSONALIZED LEARNING ACCOUNTING IS DONE FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL’S PERSONAL GOALS

We have a group of schools and teachers of the same subject of all the schools sit together to design the curriculum, share best practices which helps them to enhance their personal goals. 

INTEGRATION OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AND SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS INTO THE DAILY CURRICULUM

Community Service is introduced through NCC and Scout and Guide. Activities related to these are conducted and students do community services regularly.

FUTURISTIC SELECTION OF SUBJECT CONTENT 

Metamorphosis of the syllabus is done on a regular basis and the lessons are integrated and taught to the students.

LIFELONG LEARNING AND SOCIAL SKILLS OF FACULTY MEMBERS

I ask the teachers to upgrade their knowledge by pursuing Higher Education. I give them Award for Best Reader of the Month throughout the year. I send teachers for in service courses and seminars.  I insist teachers to be Role models for the students by setting up higher standards of thinking and simple living. 

FACULTY ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION OF THEIR INNOVATIVE PROJECTS & PRODUCTIONS

I evaluate the teachers and reward them during the Annual Program for innovative projects. I motivate them and give them suggestions for improving their skills. I assess them frequently and give them a report of the same.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY TO FACULTY EMPOWERMENT

Teachers should work unitedly together for the development of the institution. Faculty Empowerment is essential for teachers to become future leaders. Only if they are empowered they will learn to be accountable for their work.
